Ginger Value Chain Achievement between 2013-2015

  •          Conducted stakeholders’ meeting to review the ginger draft action plan for Ginger Transformation Agenda.

  •          Conducted advocacy visit to 4 ginger producing states; Kaduna, Niger, Benue and Nasarawa.

  •          10 Batch dryers and 10 slicing machines have been procured for on-farm ginger processing.

  •          A total of 168,200kg certified planting sets of rhizome was produced in 2013 and distributed to farmers through GES in 2014 planting season.

  •          14tons Breeder and 19tons Foundation seeds have been produced for further Research and Development of different ginger varieties.

  •          1ha each on-farm demonstration plots have been established in 4 implementing states.

  •          Capacity building of 174 farmers and processors in processing, storage and marketing in collaboration with Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, (FCAPT), Kano.

  •          Capacity building of 150 farmers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

  •         Sensitization workshop on promoting the uses and health benefits of ginger and its products.

  •          Embark on sensitization and Advocacy visit to identify farmers’ production, existing processing facilities, their capabilities, constraints and entire status of Ginger industry in Nigeria.
