Ginger Value Chain Achievement between 2013-2015
- Conducted stakeholders’ meeting to review the ginger draft action plan for Ginger Transformation Agenda.
- Conducted advocacy visit to 4 ginger producing states; Kaduna, Niger, Benue and Nasarawa.
- 10 Batch dryers and 10 slicing machines have been procured for on-farm ginger processing.
- A total of 168,200kg certified planting sets of rhizome was produced in 2013 and distributed to farmers through GES in 2014 planting season.
- 14tons Breeder and 19tons Foundation seeds have been produced for further Research and Development of different ginger varieties.
- 1ha each on-farm demonstration plots have been established in 4 implementing states.
- Capacity building of 174 farmers and processors in processing, storage and marketing in collaboration with Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, (FCAPT), Kano.
- Capacity building of 150 farmers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
- Sensitization workshop on promoting the uses and health benefits of ginger and its products.
- Embark on sensitization and Advocacy visit to identify farmers’ production, existing processing facilities, their capabilities, constraints and entire status of Ginger industry in Nigeria.
